ORIGIN OF THE MONTHS AND DAYS...!

 In english and the spanish it took what was the Roman Calendar like a temporary measure... Also originally measuring lunar cycles is used as the basis for part of months. So the old calendar has only 10 months, but July and August were added in honor of Julio Cesar and Cesar Augusto, roman emperors.

  • the first is January, dedicated to God Lanus, who was the guardian of the gates
  • . February after taking its name from februa, which was Roman festival of purification.
  •  March, dedicated to Mars, the Roman god of war.
  •  April, of "aprua"goddess Aphrodite was related to start the season as devoted to love.
  • May, according to Roman history "Maia" refers to the wife of the Roman god Vulcan. 
  • June in honor of "Juno", wife of Jupiter God king of the gods of Greek mythology. 
  • we know it was July in honor of Julio Cesar.
  •  August in honor of Cesar Augusto. 
  • September for being in the beginning the seventh month, its origin was left.
  •  October, also as the eighth Roman month.
  • November being the ninth Roman month maintaining its origin 
  •  December being the tenth month in the Roman calendar.



DAYS OF THE WEEK.

Takes them as a reference to the heavenly bodies, anda gave them the name each day by the name of a Greek God.

  • .Sunday dedicated to the sun which means "day".
  •  Monday dedicated to the moon "moon".
  • Tuesday moon day dedicated to the Germanic god of war, Tiw like. Mars, the Roman god.
  • Wednesday dedicated to the Germanic god Odin or Woden, Thor´s father, identified with the Roman god Mercury.
  • Thursday dedicated to German thor god of thunder, identified with Zeus and the Roman god Jupiter.
  • Friday, goddess "Frigg"wife of Odin, like the Roman goddess "Venus" and "Aphrodite".
  •  Saturday with the Roman god "Saturn" and the Greek god "Cronus".
